Fans of Gundam 00 will easily recognize the GN Arms Type E flown by Lasse Aeon in season 1. The GN Arms docks with the Gundam Exia to form an even more powerful weapons platform. The short range handicap of the Gundam Exia is offset by the weapons provided by the GN Arms.
GN ARMS TYPE E + GUNDAM EXIA (TRANSAM MODE)
In season 2 of Gundam 00 the successor of the Gundam Exia was the 00 Gundam, it also had the 0 Raiser to take the place of the GN Arms as a support platform. The purpose of the 0 Raiser however was different compared to the GN Arms, because aside from providing the firepower and speed, it also served to regulate the twin GN drives of the 00 Gundam.
The GN Arms Type E continues on the long line of mobile weapon units worn by Gundam type mobile suits in the Gundam Universe. The first time I saw a mobile weapon unit was in Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory. This was the GP03 Dendrobium combination, the last of the 3 prototype Gundams developed by Anaheim that became the main focus of the series.
I was thinking that it would probably be nice if they produced a 1/100 version of this then I realized that given the size it would probably consume my entire display shelf.... yeaaaaaahhh! Scratch building anyone? *snicker*
