Approximately five months after the MG Gundam Deathscythe was released by Bandai, they released the Deathscythe Hell from Endless Waltz. Major difference from the former is the addition of the wing parts plus having a different color scheme.

3rd Attempt at Making a Diorama Base Part II
Finished up my 3rd attempt at making a base today with the free time I had. The instructions for the grout said that it could be subjected to foot traffic after 24 hours curing time. Since the grout wasn't really going to be used for its intended purpose (as a spacer for tiles), but rather as terrain in my base, I didn't really need it to totally cure. Only hard enough for it to be paintable.

3rd Attempt at Making a Diorama Base
Was running low on plaster of paris and the store that sells it is half a world a way from where I'm living. Because of which I decided to look for another alternative terrain material. I chanced upon some tile grout while searching through the internet and decided to give it a shot. On the way home I picked up a 2kg pack of beige colored grout from the hardware store.

Mecharium?
We used to have an Aquarium in the house when we were growing up and it was really soothing just watching the fish swim around and listening to the hum of the aerator. I thought I was the only one in the house who felt their stress relieved by watching the fish but turns out that my mother and brother also found it relaxing.

Bandai HG 1/144 Extreme Gundam English Manual & Color Guide
Extreme Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. First time for me to see a Gundam armed with a Guitar shaped rifle and have a shield shaped in the form of a Guitar case. What in the world will the Gundam Guys come up with next? Definitely not a teddy bear shaped mobile suit*snicker*

2nd Attempt at Making a Diorama Base Part II
Had time to finish the base I was working on a few days back. This time I used the Non-Grade Gundam Astray Blue Frame as my photo shoot model. The base is a lot different than it originally was mocked up to be. I realized that I put too much junk on the base that there was no space anymore to add the model kit... hehehe

The Clone Wars Season 3 Episode 18 (The Citadel)
I'm happy that after the conclusion of episode 17, the Clone Wars finally went back to the formula that I liked. Episode 18: The Citadel has Obi-Wan and the gang rescuing Jedi Master Even Piell in the Citadel after being captured by the Separatists. The Citadel is a prison designed specifically for Jedi's.
Display Case
The stand I had decided on and had comissioned finally arrived. A backgrounder on this post, I finally decided to look for a display case maker to make a case for my modest collection of mecha model kits and toys.

2nd try at making a Diorama Base
Gave a second try to making a base a few days back. I found these parts lying around the house and planned to use them in the base. They are an parts of a PVC pipe (an elbow and some scrap pipe) then a broken off toilet arm. Here's a link to my first attempt. As usual there is no plan nor pre-thought design when making the base, just basically winging it.

mod_rewrite
Spent my free time today trying to get mod_rewrite to work in favor of this site. I googled the problem and I found out that a lot of people have been asking the same questions that I have and so far I haven't seen any successful answer to our similar problem. Oh well, guess this might mean that "Plan B" might be the quickest way to solve this problem.

Comments are Closed
Forgot to post that comments were closed a few weeks back. Not that I have anything against readers who comment. The volume of comment spam has just gotten so ridiculous that although it gets captured by spam filters I have to still think of a more ingenious way of preventing it from getting in. Once I figure out how to go about this, the comments section will be opened. Hopefully with a reliable CAPTCHA system.

StarWars: The Clone Wars Season 3 Episode 17
Boy am I happy that Episode 17 (Ghosts of Mortis) of Season 3 of the Clone Wars has finally ended. More specifically because they have finally put this story arc to rest. As posted before, I said that I never really liked it that much because it bordered on fantasy already instead of science fiction.

Stay (I Missed You) - Lisa Loeb
This song, Stay (I Missed You) by Lisa Loeb, suddenly popped up in my MP3 player and sure brought back memories. Good old college memories.

X-Men First Class
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Ever since they announced that James McAvoy was going to play the role of the young Prof. Charles X. Xavier while Michael Fassbender will play the young Magneto in the new X-men movie, for once I became excited again and hopeful with the X-Men movie franchise.

Revoltech Getter 1 from Change! Getter Robo w/ Base
Can't get enough of this base, its finally growing on me *snicker*. This time I used Revoltech's Getter 1 from Change! Getter Robo OVA as model for the photo shoot.
Revoltech Getter 3 with Base
Tried out taking pictures of the base I made again but this time I used a Revoltech Getter 3: Shin! Getter Robot figure as my model.

First try at making a Diorama Base Part II
.
I admit, it sucks. If it weren't for the Gundam Dynames to redirect your attention from the ugly base the uglyness would be more obvious *snicker* For a little perspective, this is what I started with and where I'm coming from.

First try at making a Diorama Base
Update: Picture of finished base here and here.
Saw this outside our house, looks like a grill from some old airconditioning unit. From here I decided to try something I always wanted to do, which was to make a base for a diorama. In making the base I wanted to use materials easily found around the house so that it won't cost so much.

Wonfes 2011 (Winter) Pictures
Had fun looking at the pictures of 2011 Wonfes at Flickr. Check out those posted at Flickr... here, here, here and here.
Painting DIY Paint Stand
Free time of mine today was alloted in painting over the DIY paint base stand I made before. The reason I'm doing this is because I don't like anymore how the paint residue gets left behind as a powder on the base. Not good because once I start spraying, the air from the can kicks up the residue and sticks on to the model kit. I'm assuming that with a coat of paint already on it it won't let paint powders easily form on the base. Hope my assumptions are correct, otherwise this will be a big waste of time on my part *snicker*

Bandai 1/20 Scopedog English Manual & Color Guide Armored Trooper Votoms
Gilgamesh Confedaration's ATM-09-ST Scopedog from the Armored Trooper Votoms anime franchise. So now I admit that I am a fan of the franchise after watching a few episodes of Pailsen Files. Haven't finished it yet though but I'm already sold with the exploits of Chirico Cuvie.
Storage Part II
Continuing from my previous post. So I visited another glass shop to inquire about how much it would cost to have a display case fabricated. I have to say that the prospects have become more dim. For a 3ft by 6ft glass and aluminum case it would cost me about $230. Whoa! "Kids" are going to have to stay in the cabinet for a little while longer till I figure things out.
StarWars: The Clone Wars Season 3 Episode 15 ~ 16
I was looking forward to watching Episode 15 of the The Clone Wars last week because of the appearance of Qui Gon Jinn, but sadly I wasn't impressed with the story arc that was continued in this week's Episode 16.

Best Movie Car Chase Scene
An article at Wired that Steve Mcqueen's motorcycle was up for sale has subsequently led me to the famous car chase in the movie Bullitt because I was curious that some sectors have pointed it out as one the greatest car chase scene ever in a movie.
Storage
Previously I stored my kits away because of a visitor coming to our house. Now I have to store everything back there again because of something my wife pointed out to me. Which was that the room that my kits were in was very hot during the day, in turn the heat could end up damaging the kits and my toy collection making their plastic brittle.

It's been a long time
Since I saw a sky like this. Weather in Asia has been dreary of late. Due to the continuous rain, there have been lots of floods and landslides that affects families and property, quite sad really. Everytime I want to complain that the weather is bad that I can't build gunpla I just have to remember that my problems and petty rants can't compare to the more serious problems that people are facing right now because of the weather.

Armored Trooper Votoms: Pailsen Files
Took time off to watch Armored Trooper Votoms: Pailsen Files and I have to say that I was blown away with the maturity of this anime. According to the link above this is a prequel to the original anime series that came out in the 80's. What better place to start then?
Counting Myself Lucky and Blessed
Today was a day where I got a lot of bad news one after the other. Bad news that will result in a definite hit in our pocketbooks. After all the news came in (and after venting a little bit) I finally took the time to ask for forgiveness for my momentary outburst and to Thank God that at least the problems I received today on my plate are well within my means to solve.

Bandai 1/20 Fatty Ground Custom English Manual & Color Guide
B-ATM-03 Fatty Ground Custom from Armored Trooper Votoms made into a 1/20 model kit by Bandai. In the series the Fatty Ground Custom belonged to the Balarant Union. Although this mobile suit belonged to the other side, to me this is one cool looking mobile suit. I think it has to be because of the bulky frame and sandy color scheme which helps add to the realism of the mecha.

The Truth About Critics
In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so.
But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talents, new creations. The new needs friends.
Bandai HG 1/144 RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type English Manual and Color Guide
The RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type which was the main mobile suit featured in 08th MS Team OVA. Quite a good series actually if you ask me because of the unique way with which they featured a side story. The conflict in this one was set in an obscure jungle and because of which the dynamics of warfare were slightly different than normal.
