Finished up my 3rd attempt at making a base today with the free time I had. The instructions for the grout said that it could be subjected to foot traffic after 24 hours curing time. Since the grout wasn't really going to be used for its intended purpose (as a spacer for tiles), but rather as terrain in my base, I didn't really need it to totally cure. Only hard enough for it to be paintable.
After about 8 hours I started work painting it using off the shelf water based house paint acrylics. Paint colors I used were: Raw Umber, Burnt Sienna and Raw Sienna. All of them were applied as a wash, diluted in water and mixed in varying gradients.
After being satisfied with the painting process (took me about an hour to be satisfied with the colors) I left it to dry for 3 hours then afterwards sprayed from Bosny Dull Clear Lacquer to seal it in. After 3 hours of drying time I applied some Faber Castell colored pencils to panel line and highlight some details in the base.
Once satisfied I sealed the pencils in with a final coat of Bosny Dull Lacquer. Which reminds me, I should start scheduling a trip to my local hardware store to purchase another can of Bonsy Dull Lacquer before I run out in mid-build.

I was hoping for my MG Rick Dias to be the one to use the base. Turns out however that because of the beam pistols mounted on the back of the Rick Dias, once its mounted on the base it won't be able to fit in the display case. Hence the reason that Gundam Cherudim is the recipient of the use of the base
