Bandai MG 1/100 Wing Gundam (EW) English Manual & Color Guide

The recently released Master Grade XXXG-01W Wing Gundam from Endless Waltz of Gundam Wing protagonist, Hero Yui. After the release of the MG ReZEL commander type, Bandai continued the Master Grade 2011 parade with a slew of Gundam Wing kits, what with the release of the MG Shenlong then the MG Death Scythe Hell.

Ides of March

March has been a tough month for everybody, including me and my family. It has definitely affected the frequency and quality of my posting in this blog. Because its hard to keep a light and cheerful mood after all that's been happening with my life and the world in general. They do say to beware of the Ides of March. March in general and not just the 15th has been depressing, the good news is that April is just a few days away. God willing, I hope that we all have safer and calmer waters ahead.

X-Y Base

Since my experiment with Automotive Body filler was a success, I thought of making an X-Y stage next. This is where I can mount the poly putty blocks for easier symmetrical grinding/shaping/carving.

Captured the Queen

This is what has been causing my pain most recently. Its the queen from a colony of Subterranean Termites that had been infesting our home. The pest control guy captured it when they were destroying the termite mound outside our house and handed it to me.

Playing around with Automotive body filler putty

Was playing around with some automotive body filler putty today in hopes of looking for an alternative to poly putty used by modelers. I wanted something that was cheap and easily available in my parts of the world so I thought of trying out automotive body filler since I read from some forums that it can be used as an alternative to poly putty that is usually used by modelers in scratch building model kits.

Bandai 1/35 U.C. Hard Graph Core Fighter English Manual & Color Guide

I was truly impressed with this kit the moment that I saw it. Highly detailed rendition of the iconic Core Fighter from the first ever Mobile Suit Gundam. Include in the 1/35 kit is a figure of Amuro Ray, Sayla Mass and a token Deck Crew *snicker* The Core Fighter also transforms to Core Block mode which fits in the chest part of the Gundam.

XXXG-01S Shenlong Gundam from Gundam Wing Endless Waltz. This time made into a 1/100 Master Grade kit by Bandai. This unit was flown by Chang Wufei and is a melee/close range combat specialist.

HobbyLink Japan mounts drive for Japan Red Cross

HobbyLink Japan announced that they're raising prices by 2%, the difference and amount earned will be matched by HLJ then donated to the Red Cross Japan for their earthquake relief efforts.

Who Wants the Ball?

My son arranged the dog figurines that my wife and I recently found then blurted out "Who wants the ball?". He was of course referring to this scene from the Pixar movie Up. That kid has a got a sense of humor in him that never fails to get me and my wife laughing.

Update: I googled about HWjapan's closure and I came into this discussion thread. The post of the discussion happened on March 10, 2011, way before the events of the earthquake, meaning that their closure could be for a different reason. Just sent them an email, I hope they answer.

Announced a few days back was the closure of HWJapan. No doubt as a result of the current events unfolding in Japan right now. What with the possible nuclear meltdown of the nuclear reactors at Fukushima that was as a result of the Earthquake and the ensuing Tsunami.

1/100 GN-007 Gundam Arios Build Part VIII

I was supposed to have posted this 2 days ago, but after being surprised at the devastation and tragedy of the Japan earthquake I felt that it was inappropriate. Two days ago all I was worried about was building this kit, while unknown to me people were losing their lives due to a massive earthquake.

Bandai HG 1/144 Geara Zulu (Guards Type) English Manual, Paint Conversion & Color Guide

AMS-129 Geara Zulu (Guards Type) made into a 1/144 High Grade kit by Bandai. This particular Geara Zulu came out in Gundam Unicorn Episode 3 as a contingent of mobile suit bodyguards for Full Frontal's Sinanju whenever he sortied.

Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Aftermath

As soon as I woke up I started scanning the news for information regarding the 8.9 quake and corresponding tsunami that hit Japan yesterday.

Major Earthquake Rocks Japan

According to CNN a massive 8.9 earthquake struck Japan just days after a 7.2 intensity one struck on Wednesday. Tsunami warnings were immediately sent to nearby countries to warn them of the possible tidal wave that could hit them. Info could also be found in Al Jazeera and USGS.

Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie

Funny how this song is just the perfect stress buster for me during stressful times. Aside from the infectious beat its the empathy that the lyrics has that hits the spot perfectly and reduces the weight of the world on your shoulders a bit.

Found It!

Finally found some TOA Plastic Primer paint that I've been looking for such a long time already. Right now I only have one can left and alternate between using that and the Bosny Plastic Primer.

Remembering Wayne's World 1 & 2

Suddenly remembered the Wayne's World movies this glorious Sunday Sabbath. What started out as a skit in Saturday Night Live by Mike Myers and Dana Carvey got spun off into a full blown movie in 1992 then a sequel in 1993. Probably my most favorite scene from the Wayne's World movies is the fight scene between Wayne and Cassandra's Dad (see above).

Gundam Unicorn Episode 3 Released

Gundam Unicorn Episode 3 got its worldwide release today. Looking forward to watching this because I've been impressed with the 2 previous episodes.

Nowhere Man

Was hoping to continue building the 1/100 GN-007 Gundam Arios because the sky was sunny and bright. I took out the box of the Gundam Arios from storage and laid out the parts and stuff I needed for the build on the table. Just when I started filing down some parts the sky suddenly became dark and it started to rain.

1/60 DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal for Preorder

Update: I take it back, I like this design! It finally grew on me after looking at it for such a long time *snicker*

Saw this a few days ago, a pre order announcement for the 1/60 DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal of Alto Saotome from the second installment of the Macross Frontier movie (Macross Frontier Sayonara no Tsubasa). Nice to find out too that they finally have a name for it: YF-29 Durandal. And with this I get to see as well the VF's Battroid and Gerwalk mode.

Scratch Built Megatron Tank from Transformers Movie

Saw this today from Hack N Mod site. Its a scratch built Megatron Tank figure made by a builder from China. Truly Amazing.

MG 00 Raiser for Pre-order

This is a pleasant surprise. Bandai is releasing a Master Grade version of the 00 Raiser of Setsuna F. Seie from Gundam 00 Second Season in May of this year.

Vallejo Paints

Thinking of trying out Vallejo model kit paints and related products for coloring my next builds. Problem though is that the supplier I found in my country currently carries only the Vallejo Model Color acrylic paints and not Vallejo Air which is specially formulated for air brushing. You can download their color charts and catalogues here.

MG Gundam Deathscythe Hell (Endless Waltz) English Color Guide & Manual

Approximately five months after the MG Gundam Deathscythe was released by Bandai, they released the Deathscythe Hell from Endless Waltz. Major difference from the former is the addition of the wing parts plus having a different color scheme.
