Bandai MG 1/100 Gelgoog of Char Aznable ver.2.0 English Color Guide & Manual

Char Aznable's Custom Gelgoog from Mobile Suit Gundam. I'm still in the process of watching Mobile Suit Gundam, having recently borrowed a set of DVD's from a friend. So my knowledge on the Gelgoog is next to nothing. I'm only basing what little I know on the MG manual posted at Dalong.

MG Zaku II Shin Matsunaga ver 2 Custom English Color Guide

If I were to judge on box art alone, I would really end up buying this Master Grade version of the MS-06R-1A Zaku II Shin Matsunaga Custom. Really great rendition of a Zaku in action. Good thing too that the actual kit came out nicely *snicker*... still, I'd be tempted though to frame the box cover and hang it on my wall... hehehe

Bandai MG 1/100 RX-93 Nu Gundam English Manual & Color Guide

Amuro Ray's RX-93 Nu Gundam from the anime series Char's Counter Attack. Definitely a very peculiar design for me because the fin funnels are placed off center from the back shoulder. It kinda breaks a paradigm for the need always for symmetric design in order to equate a sense of balance. I still prefer the design of Amuro Ray's RX-93 v2 Hi Nu Gundam over this.

List of Gundam Color Spray can be found here. translated Color Chart for Gunze Sangyo Solvent Paints, I decided to tackle next the translation of the Gundam line of paints made by GSI Creos. The long list of Gundam related paint products are anchored by its core products of the Gundam Color, the Gundam Spray and the Gundam Markers that aren't limited to just panel lining use.

Gundam Color

The Gundam Color line is great because it saves you the trouble of having to mix the correct paint shade together for a Gundam model kit. They usually come in the shade commonly found in Gundam mobile suits. If you can't find these at your local hobby shop, you can always try at Amazon as I saw a 3rd party seller selling it for about $$$$ a bottle.

Bandai 1/100 Vent Saviour Gundam English Color Guide & Paint Conversion Chart

Recently released Van Saviour Gundam from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED VS Astray side stories. Based from the Saviour Gundam frame of Gundam Seed Destiny that was made by ZAFT and operated by the Librarian. Decided to translate the color guide of this one after translating recently the Color Guide for the Nebula Blitz Gundam.

Translated the color guide of the recently released Nebula Blitz Gundam, its one of the Gundams from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED VS Astray side stories. The Nebula Blitz Gundam is piloted by Lily Thevalley. Don't really have much to say about the Nebula Blitz Gundam since I have had no contact with the side story. Must be selling good though to merit a production run from Bandai.

During Gundam's 30th anniversary, there was a tie up of the Gundam franchise with the 7-11 store franchise and one of the things that came out of that was a limited edition HG RX-78-2 Gundam in 7-11 Colors. Below is the translated color guide for the 7-11 Gundam.

This was basically what I have been working on these past few days. Sort of a script to drill those Kanji-Hiragana words so that I can easily memorize them as I prepare for the Japanese Proficiency Exam.

It works by pulling out a kanji character from the database randomly then the user has to choose the correct hiragana spelling of it given 5 options to choose from.

Unlimited Sky - Acoustic version

No mecha related update today owing to me being busy preparing for my Japanese self-study. Actually coded a quick script in PHP which will serve as a drill program for me to help me build up my Japanese vocabulary. Scripts about 80% done but aside from that I still have to build up the kanji-hiragana database of the program.

Despite being busy with other things, here's an acoustic version of Hallelujah and Marie's theme song, Unlimited Sky, that I found at youtube.

Bandai MG 1/100 Sazabi English Color Guide & Paint Conversion Chart

If the final events of Gundam Anime: Char's Counter Attack were really true, then the Sazabi could very well have been the last ride of Char Aznable. The Master Grade Sazabi is one of the most expensive Master Grade model kits being sold today because of the sheer size of the finished model.

MG Gundam Shin Musha English Color Guide

Update (01/18/2009): Slight Erratum, Cyan red in the color guide is actually "shine" red or MR. Color C79


Translated color guide of the Master Grade Shin Musha Gundam. For me, this specific Samurai-esque Gundam design showcases the rich Bushido tradition of the Japanese nation. If I were given the choice however what type of Gundam to pilot, I wouldn't select the Shin Musha. I wouldn't want a short range melee specialist for a ride.

Bandai 1/72 YF-25 Prophecy English Color Guide

Color Guide of the limited edition 1/72 YF-25 Prophecy was translated to English. From my understanding of the YF-25 that was in the Macross Frontier movie, it was supposed to be the prototype for the VF-25 Messiah's used by SMS.

Bandai 1/72 VF-25F Armored Messiah Valkyrie English Manual and Color Guide

Started translating the Japanese manual of the 1/72 VF-25F Armored Valkyrie of Alto Saotome from Macross Frontier. I like how the armored Valkyrie design evolved with the arrival of the VF-25 Messiah.

In the first Macross series, the armored GBP-1S could only be deployed in Battroid mode. If the pilot wanted to switch modes it had to ditch first the armor and in the process lose the protection if offered. But with the VF-25, the pilot could keep the armor on and switch through all three modes (fighter, gerwalk, battroid) without a hitch.

Common Gundam and Bandai Model Kit Colors

I guess one benefit of having translated all these color guides from Japanese to English is that I started having a feel as to the common colors that are used to paint these model kits. I cross checked that with the Mr. Color series of paints by GSI Creos and made a list of the popular colors that you will most likely need a lot of in your paint inventory. That is of course if you are planning to color it with an air brush.

Here's a list of the most common colors that are often repeated in each model kit from Bandai. The Letter-Number code enclosed in parenthesis are its product reference no. for easier look up.

Master Grade RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver Ka English Color Guide

Am not really familiar nor fond of the design of the Gundam Unicorn. I'm hoping that once the movie comes out it will change my opinion of it. This is in contrast with the Gundam Astay Blue Frame that I had bought without first knowing anything about. Guess I liked the design so much that I didn't care much for the story. Talk about an easy victim of mass marketing brainwashing... hehehe

Bandai PG 1/60 Strike Gundam English Manual, Color Guide & Paint Conversion Chart

Color Guide for the Perfect Grade 1/60 Strike Gundam was translated from Japanese to English. I can't really say much about the Strike Gundam because I've had no experience watching the first Gundam Seed series. I've watched Gundam Seed Destiny though and found it entertaining.

Would sure love to see though what it feels like to build a perfect grade Gundam. The perfect grade line is said to be the epoch of plamodel construction because of the articulation and sheer amount of parts. Not to mention, I like it also because its a big 1/60 scale model kit.
