Mech9's 2010 Top Seven

Finally decided to write a top seven list of news worthy events that happened in 2010, based on my opinion of course. How apt to to be making the list on the eve of the New Year. 2010 went by so fast, as with the previous years you can't help but wonder how the time went by so fast.

Medicine Dropper

Was at the pharmacy the other day and luckily I remembered to finally get some glass type medicine droppers. This I'll use for mixing paint once I start airbrushing. With this I'll be able to get the proper ratios for the Tamiya Acrylic paint and isopropyl alcohol to be used in airbrushing a model kit.

1/100 GN-007 Gundam Arios Build Part VII

Ever have this happen to you? I was on my way back to my room after having finished sanding and snap fitting the 1/100 Gundam Arios when I saw a snake crawling across our living room. It was a bit dark and I couldn't tell if it was poisonous or not, so I just did the logical thing, which was to just go ahead and kill it rather than take the chance of it running loose in our house. Especially when I didn't know if it was poisonous or not.

Conceding Defeat at Starcraft2 Skirmish Mode

Spent the better part of the day playing the Demo of Starcraft2 on my PC. I got it up to the "Very Hard" level in skirmish mode but just couldn't get myself to beat that darn computer AI. Quite a devious little algorithm.

After about 8 hours of downloading yesterday, the 1.6 Gb of Starcraft2 demo files was finally saved on my computer.

A couple days back, Blizzard announced that they just released a free Demo of the very popular Starcraft2 game to give fans a peek into the game before buying it. Users will be able to play the first 3 missions of the campaign along with unlimited skirmish games as a Terran.

The GPB-04B Beargguy of Rina Noyama from Gunpla Builders anime series. The first time I saw a picture of this High Grade model kit I was wondering where this was from. After seeing the manual of this and realising that it belongs to Rina Noyama, then I realized why it was built that way *snicker*

Yamato 1/60 VF-1S Valkyrie of Hikaru Ichijo from DYRL English Manual

Probably the best rendition of the iconic VF-1S Valkyrie flown by Hikaru Ichijo in the Macross: Do you remember Love? movie. This one was made by Yamato Toys in 1/60 scale and can fully transform from Fighter to Gerwalk and the Battroid mode.

Quick Release Couplings

Was out Christmas shopping with my wife yesterday after work at the mall. While waiting for my wife I decided to pass by the hardware store and finally bought myself some quick release couplings for my little airbrush tank project.

Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon

Found this at youtube, so looking forward to seeing this next year. Its scheduled to be release on July 2011 and I'm expecting it to be another blockbuster movie from Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg.

Bandai PG 1/60 Strike Freedom Gundam English Manual, Color Guide & Paint Conversion Chart

December is here so it means that this is the month that the Perfect Grade 1/60 ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam will be released. Bandai must truly love this model kit because there was already a 1/60 non-grade Strike Freedom Gundam released before. Then again, when you think about it, the reason Bandai will release a particular model kit is because of the potential sales that could be generated. Not sure if this is because of some fan poll.

Yamato 1/60 VF-1 Zentradi Uniform Set

Announced today at Yamato Toy's Online site, the release of the 1/60 VF-1 Zentradi Uniform set on December 10, 2010. The item will be available on their online shop and will be limited in quantities. Not sure if HobbyLink Japan will offer this, but HobbyLink Japan is known for offering Yamato Toy's online exclusives.

Macross 1/55 Armored Valkyrie GBP-1S English Manual

Took a look at my 1/55 VF-1S Strike Valkyrie and my eyes met with the box of the 1/55 Armored Valkyrie GBP-1S (originally made by Takatoku in the early 80's). I opened it up for old times sake and was looking at the manual. So I said, what the heck? There could be some person of the same interest as I wondering right now how to install the 1/55 GBP-1S on a 1/55 VF-1 Valkyrie. The chest part is actually quite tricky.

Clouds

I have a feeling that the Big Guy up there doesn't want me making any model kits right now. For 3 days straight, whenever I had free time already to start building it suddenly became dark, cloudy then started raining torrentially. Weird. Been dying to continue with the 1/100 GN-007 Gundam Arios build.
