Just saw this yesterday at HobbyLink Japan, the recently announced no-paint kits of the 1/60 VF-1A, VF-1J and VF-1S by Yamato Toys up for pre-order already and will be available by October. The toys cost about Y6500 yen at its pre-order price. I looked around at the other Japanese based online hobby shops and didn't see them posting any pre-order details yet. These kits come unpainted and unassembled.
I personally feel that Yamato Toys should make this a full blown product already instead of just a limited release. Building this great toy by myself would make it more memorable and meaningful. Because whenever I look upon it will hold a higher value because of the effort I put into it.
Pre-order pages at HobbyLink Japan can be found here:
1/60 VF-1S Transformable Unpainted Kit (with Optional Parts)
1/60 VF-1J Transformable Unpainted Kit (with Optional Parts)
1/60 VF-1A Transformable Unpainted Kit (with Optional Parts)
The kits also come with Optional/Bonus parts that include a seat and side thruster and back covers. The side thruster and back covers were already included with the 1/60 GBP-1S Armored parts kit.
Another bonus that only comes with the VF-1J is the Komilia pod which in the anime was where Max and Milia Jenius baby, Komilia, was housed when riding Milia's VF-1J.
Test shots of the optional parts were posted at the Yamato Toys blog. This is a picture of the seat assembled and side thrusters mounted on a 1/60 VF-1A of Hikaru Ichijo from Macross DYRL (sold separately)
This is the runner for the side thruster and the parts needed to assemble the seat.
