Bandai MG 1/100 Tallgeese English Manual & Color Guide

Released this month by Bandai was the much anticipated OZ-00MS Tallgeese from Gundam Wing as a 1/100 Master Grade model kit. Considering that this mecha has always been in the top list whenever Bandai conducts one of their surveys as to which mobile suit they want to be made into a Master Grade kit, its nice to see that Bandai gave the fans what they've always wanted.

Camouflage

Was able to get some time today to work on the 1/48 Mil-24 Hind D from Revell that I was building, thanks in part to the weather. The manual calls for Africa Corps Yellow and Dark Green for the fuselage and camouflage color of this model kit. After a few days of pondering I finally decided on using a shade of brown instead of Dark Green. I saw this camouflage pattern in some old Hind pictures and I remember building the Hasegawa 1/72 Hind-D in this same shade.

Kotobukiya 1/100 NSG-X2 Hresvelgr=Ater English Manual & Color Guide

Released in October of 2012 by Kotobukiya was the Hresvelgr=Ater. It is a 1/100 scale model kit from their in house developed Frame Arms line of model kits. Aside from its base robot mode, the Hresvelgr=Ater has the capability to transform to airplane/flying mode by the movement of some parts.

Bandai Thousand Sunny New World Version English Manual & Color Guide

Released by Bandai in October of 2011 was the Thousand Sunny New World Version plastic model kit. The Thousand Sunny is the ship used by the protagonists of the very popular One Piece anime series. Aside from the Thousand Sunny, it also comes with figures of the main characters from the anime as well as the Shiro mokuba, Mini Merry and the Shark Submarine. In case anybody's interested, Bandai also released a 1/8 MG Figurerise of One Piece progatonist, Monkey D. Luffy.

From the very popular anime series, One Piece, comes the Thousand Sunny ship released by Bandai in March of 2011. This is a plastic model kit that has to be assembled. The kit also comes with bonus Shiro Mukoba, Mini Merry and Shark Submerge.

Somebody should release this in 1/48th scale

Saw this in reddit and I can't help but think that somebody should release this in 1/48th scale. Its the Mi-28 codenamed "Havoc" by NATO. The Mil-28 is the successor to the Mi-24 Hind.

The Jolly Rogers by Tom Blackburn and Eric Hammel

Just finished reading The Jolly Rogers by Tom Blackburn and Eric Hammel today and I have to say that it was a book I couldn't put down. Initially published in 1989, it details the life of the VF-17 "The Jolly Rogers" who operated and distinguished themselves in the Pacific Theater of World War II flying the Vought F4U Corsair, as told by their Commander, Thomas Blackburn.

Holding Pattern

Finished masking the 1/48 Mil-24D Hind by Revell for painting two days ago. Was supposed to paint yesterday but the weather wasn't holding up. I was all set to paint today but the OC nature in me finally won over, so I spent time today re-puttying up the areas I wasn't contented with.

A Gap in the Clouds

I was able to get some work done on the Revell 1/48 Mil-24 Hind D that I was building yesterday by painting on a coat of plastic primer then applying the Pylox Cabinet Grey on the bottom half of the Hind.

Yamato 1/60 VF-1A Max and Miria

I have to admit that my heart skips a beat whenever I see these two toys together. One is the Yamato 1/60 VF-1A of Maximilian Jenius, while the other is a Yamato 1/60 VF-1A No Paint Kit that I converted to a fictionalized VF-1A in Milia Jenius color scheme.

Matchbox 1968 Toyota Land Cruiser (FJ40)

Got this from my son this Christmas. A 1960 Toyota Land Cruiser (FJ40) made by Matchbox. A classic off road vehicle that has left a lot of people smitten with its rugged yet simple design. According to the stamping at the bottom of the toy its built by Matchbox in 2008 from their factory in Thailand.

All Masked Up and Ready for Painting

Continued working on the Revell 1/48 Mi-24 Hind D. As of now everything is masked up and ready for painting. Also took time to putty up the seam lines. Painting however was not something I could do today as the weather wasn't conducive for painting. For masking I used Tamiya Masking Tape, some sticky tack as well as some tissue paper for the area near the rotor shaft.

Nervous When Masking Canopies

Working on the Revell 1/48 Mi-24 Hind, finally glued the two halves together and am now moving on to the step where the canopy needs to be put in. There is this realization for me that the aspect of scale model building that really makes me nervous is when it comes to masking the clear canopy.
