Revisiting 1/72 VF-25G Valkyrie Messiah Part IV

1/72 VF-25G Valkyrie Messiah

Part III of this build can be seen here. Decided to try out the Faber Castell Colored pencils I bought. This was to color the red parts in the shoulders of the VF-25G.

Originally I had used the stickers that came along with the kit, but after a few days the stickers popped out. I was thinking of using the decals this time but became hesitant after I noticed the size. I remembered that I had a hell of time putting the stickers in.

The pencils stuck well to the surface of the kit because of the flat finish. I thought it had a good covering of the surface area. I noticed however after I took this shot that the pencils were in fact applied grainy (is there such a word) on the surface... good camera! *snicker*

Oh well, this is good enough for me. I have to get a finer enough sharpener though in order to get the pencil tip to access the smallest recesses. But then again, I really am asking too much already of this pencil considering how small the kit really is.

Here's some shots of the colored pencil colored area with a top coat of Bosny clear flat already applied to it. In real life it looks a lighter shade than its original red color. Can't seem to understand why it came out the same way as if no flat coat was applied.
