1/60 GN-001 Gundam Exia Build Part IV

1/60 GN-001 Gundam Exia

Part III of this build could be found here. Ever have this happen to you? You get lost as to which part should go where?, and the manual doesn't seem to be of any help as the parts look all the same. This usually happens to me with similar looking parts because I cut off the parts needed for a certain number of steps from the runners then paint them.

The easiest way for me to "find my way" is to put the part back on to the runner and see where the sprues match. From there I can easily tell which part is which

Anyway, back to the build. The 1/60 GN-001 Gundam Exia has a detailed cockpit seat where the little Setsuna F. Seie figure can park himself in. Painted this a little greyish blue with a burst of can spray so that when the cockpit door is opened up it can be easily seen.

The soft rubber goes in to the sides of the body that simulate the conduits that act as the "wires" that supply power from the GN drive to the different parts of the Gundam Exia.

Part of the arms now go in.

Then once thats in the other half of the body is mated to form the upper torso.

The red armor plates on the side go in as well as the blue armor on the stomach. Thanks to this shot I was able to notice that I hadn't fully snapped in the red armor on the left side. The thing about the metallic graphite spray of Pylox is that it really gets applied on thick. I usually sand down the metallic graphite paint that gets lodged into the male pegs so that it can easily snap in to the corresponding female peg.

Then there's the blue back part that is the housing for the GN drive.

Some metallic stickers for the GN Drive part at the back that's supposed to give the clear parts its shade of green.

Here it is already installed at the part of the GN Drive

And here's that part of the GN drive fitted at the back already.

Also had some panel lining done already with the help of a 0.5 mm metallic pencil. Wanted to seal it also with a coat of Bosny Clear flat but I had to call it a day already as it had turned cloudy already.

Was hoping to get a lot more done today, like working on the arms. But ran into some problem with the painting of the Pylox Fire Red and some of Bosny Blue. I didn't notice that they didn't cover completely some of the pieces, so the white plastic primer was showing. Had to go back and paint that. Afterwards applied the top coat again of Bosny clear flat. The good thing though is that I was able to get the panel lining done also. The torso isn't really almost to being finished as there are still some parts missing and also that the panel lining has to be sealed in. Will try to get that done tomorrow, weather permitting.

Part V of this build can be found here.
