Got this for my son a couple of days back. A 1/66 diecast Toyota FJ Cruiser from the Tomica line of Takara Tomy. The FJ Cruiser is a throwback design to the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser of the 70's
The FJ40 Land Cruiser holds a special place in my heart because I loved that car when I was a little kid. Growing up in a farm I remember my Dad being issued one for a short time by the company he was working on while his regular company ride was being serviced.
That FJ40 looked cool on the outside but was bumpy as hell on the inside once it started down the road. I think it had much to do with the short wheelbase of the FJ40 aside from the use of leaf springs on the axles and a high ride height. Still I loved riding that car for the short time that it was with us.
Typical of the diecast toys of the Tomica line, the FJ Cruiser comes with an independent spring suspension on each tire and of course is well detailed and accurate for its small size. No gimmiks on this one, like an opening door or something, just your average FJ Cruiser.
