Picking up from where I left off of my build of the 1/60 VF-1A No Paint kit by Yamato Toys and converting it into a fictionalized VF-1A Valkyrie of Miria Fallyna Jenius. Part IV of this build can be found here. This build starts with the continued assembly of the chest piece. In the assembly of the chest part that holds the chest plate, some 11 mm 2 diam shafts will be required.
Wanted to prevent the mistake of breaking another part because of the metal shaft not fitting in properly, so I test fitted it first and one metal joint had a small hole. With this I used my hand held router and a diamond tip bit to grind the hole a bit to make it larger. In the previous post I broke one of the shoulder joints when I tried to force a metal shaft in its hole, turns out that the hole was too small.
After grinding the hole a bit, the shaft now fit in nicely. Here I'm test fitting the shaft to the other side of that equation, the metal chest plate.
Shaft went in without a hitch
After that it was time to work on the other side. The shaft fit in perfectly for the right side hole of the chest plate.
Then connecting it to the metal plate of the chest piece
After that's done, time to snap that joint to the plastic part that attaches to the back unit.
Final piece of the chest piece assembly is to fit the chest plate as well as the canopy cover.
Part VI of this build can be found here.
