Previous post on this topic can be found here. Finished putting the x-y base together using some nuts and bolts during my free time today.
Took quite longer than I expected because I was fiddling with an idea of making the lower stage smaller. After that idea blew up on my face like a new year's eve rocket I had no choice but to just soldier on.
All that's left to do now is to affix it to the stand. I'll use nuts and bolts to affix it so incase I don't like the positioning I can easily re-position it. After I make the vise that will hold the workpiece then the X-Y stage of this mini milling machine will be complete.
This build however didn't go without any casualty. Two casualties during this build was a multi-tool that I used as my pair of pliers and a drill bit.
The drill bit broke as I tried to dislodge a rivet in order to replace it with a nut and bolt. The multi tool breaking came as a shock as I thought that it was a well made tool. Oh well, can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.
Part IV of this build could be found here.
