Avengers (2012) Trailer

Sooooooo looking forward to the Avengers movie next year that is scheduled to be released by May of 2012. Found this trailer via Reddit.

I've always been a Marvel fanboy. In my innocence I thought all the super hero characters were created by one comic book company. Then as I hit gradeschool and got exposed to other comics, courtesy of my classmates, I found out that Superman & Batman didn't live in the same "dimension" as Spiderman and Ironman...bummer. Oh well, life goes on and just one of the "issues" you have to deal with as a gradeschooler *snicker*

The movie is an ensemble cast of Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Jeremy Renner (HawkEye), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow). Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Loki from the Thor movie and seems to be the main foil for the Avengers. The stoic Clark Gregg will still be there and will likely be the comedic scapegoat again (teamed up with Robert Downey Jr and they are a barrel of monkeys). I'm expecting to see Stan Lee again in one of his cameos, in fact, I'd be very surprised and saddened if he didn't show up in this movie.

As a reader, I was more inclined to Iron Man, I guess its no surprise then that I have a blog about mechs... hehehe.

One thing that bugged me ever since the Captain America movie came out was how they were going to fix that Chris Evans problem. Chris Evans played the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movies and here he is now playing Captain America. Guess this could mean that the Fantastic Four movie franchise is officially dead.

We get to see more of Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) this time as in the Thor movie he was only a cameo. To be honest though, I'm not really fond of popular characters merging to form a "super" group. So I didn't bite into this buy-1-take-a-whole-gang-of-superheroes that the comic book industry was peddling us. I also thought that it kinda made the historical timelines hard to thresh out with all these things that the superheroes are doing.

Thankfully I'm old enough for that not to matter anymore because all I really want to watch now is a movie where all my childhood comic book heroes are featured
