Recently reviewed the Yamato 1/60 Perfect Transformation YF-19 of Isamu Dyson from Macross Plus OVA/Movie. I just love the design of the YF-19 and consider it a worthy successor to continue the mission of the venerable VF-1 Valkyrie as the premier fighter of the Earth Forces in the Macross Universe.
In the Macross Plus OVA/Movie, the plot revolves around the professional and personal rivalry of test pilots Isamu Dyson and Guld Goa Bowman as they compete to have their respective Variable Fighters approved as the replacement of the VF-11 in the beautiful and sweeping skies of planet Eden. What makes the anime great, aside from the mecha, deep plot and rich characters is the beautiful soundtrack composed by Yoko Kanno that enchances the viewing experience.
If you haven't noticed already, I always gush like a school boy who just saw his crush walk buy whenever I speak of all things Macross. So I have to warn you that my bias for Macross borders on the obscene and hardcore already. I've always been a fan boy and to me Shoji Kawamori can do no wrong. Well except of course for Macross 7 which is a big face palm moment in my opinion.
