Berkeley Bionics' eLegs

It rained the whole day yesterday so I couldn't get any painting activities lined up. But I was able to watch this video that showcases the eLegs that Berkeley Bionics developed. Originally found this posted at reddit.

The common angle for this blog would be that this could be a precursor for the development of mobile suits. But what I would like to highlight is the fact that technology not only makes us better, but it gives hope to those who have none and I think thats a more nobler reason than the advancement of the human race. Not that I'm saying that the advancement of humanity is not a noble exercise.

In the video above, it was pointed out that this technology originally derived from Berkeley's development of the Human Universal Load Carrier for the military. The purpose of that was to help soldiers carry heavier loads by means of a wearable exoskeleton. Of course you couldn't help but think that the military will not just stop at that point *snicker*

Looking at further at Youtube, the Japanese don't seem to be far behind themselves.
