Macross Plus

I guess one of the cool things that made Macross great, aside from the music, the mecha, the characters and the awesome plot and graphics was the Macross Missile Massacre. More popularly called by fans as the Itano Circus because it was created by Ichiro Itano.

I’ve always been curious to find out how the Macross Toy line varied in sizes from one maker and scale to another. Luckily after watching Wizartars amazing Macross toy reviews at youtube I was able to find an answer to that question.

From the picture below: 1st Row (L to R): 1/60 Destroid Tomahawk (Yamato), 1/60 VF-1A Hikaru Ichijo DYRL (Yamato). 2nd Row (L to R): 1/60 VF-0S Roy Fokker from Macross Zero (Yamato), VF-1S Roy Fokker with Strike Pack (Yamato), 1/60 YF-19 Excalibur from Macross Plus (Yamato)

Yamato 1/60 VF-22S Sturmvogel II Gamlin Kizaki Edition

Just saw this Toy TV video on the Yamato website. In the video they show some product features of their 1/60 VF-22S Sturmvogel II Gamlin Kizaki Edition and their Macross Plus VF-11B Super Pack. Disappointing was that they didn’t show the transformation of the VF-22S and VF-11B, mostly what was new and different from the previous products. Still consider the video as a source of information.

Check out the video here

Found this very classic toy commercial for a Bandai Macross 1/55 VF-1S Strike Valkyrie at youtube. Brings back old times I have to say, because tv quality wasn’t as good back then so it was quite grainy and dark.

There were other Macross related commercials in youtube from Yamato. Check them out below.

Macross Ace Frontier game for the PlayStation Portable(PSP)

I was looking at game play videos of the Macross Ace Frontier game for the PlayStation Portable(PSP) and was blown away with all the action. Sadly though I have no PSP. So no platform to play Macross Ace Frontier on, I think you can Download a PSP emulator but its unsure if that game will actually play on an emulator. The most popular Play Station Portable Emulator seems to be the Potemkin. But if I decide to buy just the game, I still have to worry about how to transfer the game to the PC. It still seems like a gamble. The other option is to befriend somebody with a PSP, hahaha… user! Then again, I think I’m too old already to be playing video games. Game can be bought here, even if you aren’t in Japan.

I was watching Macross Plus OVA during the weekend and noticed this panel of photos in Col. Millard’s office. I saw this in Episode 3, the time when Col. Millard was informing Isamu, Yang and Guld that Project Nova had been cancelled. At first glance it meant nothing to me and I hardly noticed it because it was only shown for a few seconds. Thanks to the powers of the DVD player I was able to freeze the frame and get a better look at it.

Not sure if my eyes are failing me, but did YF-21 test pilot, Guld Goa Bowman just make a cameo in Macross 7?
