1/100 GN-006 Cherudim Gundam Assembly Part I

Bandai Non- Grade 1/100 GN-006 Cherudim Gundam Assembly Part I

Started building already the 1/100 GN-0006 Cherudim Gundam of Lockon Stratos from the Gundam 00 season 2 anime. Prior to this kit I was building the 1/100 non-grade GN-002 Gundam Dynames belonging also to Lockon Stratos from the Gundam 00 season 1 anime.

That kit is almost finished with only the sniper rifle left to work on. Should have been finished already had it not been for some painting errors occuring on the sniper rifle.

Anyhoo, started removing the parts from the runners for some sanding and priming. Some modellers prefer to assemble the kit first then disassemble it for sanding and painting. I'm starting to see the logic in that if you are planning to mod the kit. Because with a built up unit you can easily visualize the model kit once its assembled.

To make it easy to disassemble, they usually cut off a portion of the male peg so that the parts can be easily pulled apart. Sorry, but I forgot already which forum I originally read it from, but there is a simple tutorial here on how it is done.

The chest part of the Cherudim has some gray stripes on it. There is some foil stickers included in the kit in order to simulate it. Usually what I do is use a gundam marker to paint over that area. I mask it first with some yellow sealing tape so that I can get a good line.

If you notice one of the painted chest armor has a paint chip on it making a small sliver of the primer visible. I accidentally knicked it with my nail *graarrrr* when I was removing the tape. I'll just mask the part again later and spray it again with the green paint. Was thinking on using a darker color for the green parts of the Cherudim, but then I realized that I like the shade of the green color that I used for the 1/100 Dynames so I decided to use the same paint.

Part II of this build can be found here.
