This mobile suit is on my want-to-have list of model kits. The MS-18E Kampfer from the Gundam OVA War in a Pocket. And like its German sounding name, it definitely sports a world war II German military motif. Yep, those potato mashers on the side of the knees sure raises that impression on me.

One of my apprehensions for buying this kit however was the lack of available paints in my area for me to be able to match the color of this beautiful kit and to make it as close to the original as possible. Then again, I really didn’t stay true to the colors of the MG Rick Dias when I re-did it for the second time. So I’d definitely buy this kit if I come across it.

Here’s the color guide for the master grade Kampfer, that was taken from hobby search.

While here’s the color guide for the HGUC Kampfer.

The MG Kampfer is being sold for 2800 yen at HWJapan, 2931 yen at Amiami, 4000 yen at Hobby Search and $41.80 by some 3rd party suppliers at Amazon
The Master Grade Kampfer was also used as a model kit in the Plamo Tsukuro (making model kits) show in Japan. The show basically takes a model kit and gives it to some professional model kit builders to build and a film crew films it. Its a chance for promodellers to showcase their skills and the public to learn their tricks and trade secrets. Check out that particular show below.

I really like the design of the Kampfer. I’m a big War in the Pocket fan. I have the RX-78NT-1 and Kampfer in HG form. Maybe one day I can get the MG versions.
When I was ordering at Amiami in order to post a review I was actually thinking about getting the Kampfer. But due to the size of its box Amiami would only ship it by EMS. Went for the Arios instead because it could be shipped as SAL.
This is super helpful! I’m actually using my kampfer as my first air brush victim *snicker* with a theme of bumblebee from transformers. But do you happen to know what was that wax/polish in the 4th video, 5:50 minutes into the video?
Thanks Jin!
after watching and googling to verify, most likely the metal polish used was this, good luck on your build
