Just heard a couple of hours back that Leonard Nimoy passed away at the age of 83. Thank God for Reddit, got it as soon as the news broke but am only now composing a post about it.
Once again another powerful childhood icon of mine passes away. I only knew him for his portrayal of Spock and because he voiced Galvatron in Transformers the Movie. But for a simple kid, that's what heroes are made of. Those who are able to bring to life characters that mean so much to us. He was more than that of course as he was also an accomplished Director, Photographer, and Poet, to name a few.
Now it isn't just me who feels sad for this great man's passing, but also my wife and son. My entire family is saddened by this passing, because in one way or another we have been touched and gladdened by his performance. Just goes to show that his influence in this life spanned generations.
