Bandai HG 1/144 Schuzrum Galluss English Manual, Paint Conversion & Color Guide

From Gundam Unicorn OVA comes the the Schuzrum Gallus which was released as a 1/144 High Grade model kit by Bandai. As usual I can't help but love the design of the Schuzrum Galluss and the color scheme. But despite it's awesome design it doesn't seem to have much in the firepower department. Only Chain Mines and other close quarter stuff. When war comes this definitely won't be the first suit that comes to my mind to get into *snicker*

Bandai HG 1/144 Zeta Plus (Unicorn Ver) English Manual & Color Guide

From the Gundam Unicorn series comes the Zeta Plus released as a 1/144 High Grade model kit by Bandai. It's modeled after the iconic Zeta Gundam from the anime series bearing the same name. I always loved the Z Gundam anime as it holds a special place in my heart, as it was my introduction to the Gundam Universe. Never looked back ever since.

Bandai HG 1/144 Neo Zeong English Manual, Paint Conversion & Color Guide

Massive is an understatement, Colossal would be more apt to describe the recently released 1/144 High Grade Neo Zeong by Bandai. The Neo Zeong was piloted by Full Frontal in the final episode of the Gundam Unicorn OVA. Plotwise I couldn't see the point in this massive behemoth for the story but as a mecha fan boy, who cares! Hahaha.

X-Wiiiinnnnnnnngggg!

Yeah, so the X-wing from the new Star Wars series being shot in London kinda overshadows the message of Director J.J. Abrams promoting Starwars: Force for Change that will benefit UNICEF but it's really an innovative way to get my attention to support a cause.

Transformers: Age of Extinction

I suddenly remembered why I hated Transformers: Dark of the Moon after watching Transformers: Age of Extinction a couple of weeks back. In my advancing age I guess am starting to become prone to forgetfulness already. I usually don't like posting negative reviews on this site for not wanting to say anything bad about anything. But for Michael Bay's Transformers series I will make an exception.

Bad Words Review

I think I just found my sleeper hit for 2014. The Jason Bateman directed and starred in movie, Bad Words. I couldn't stop laughing while watching this movie. Kudos should also go to Andrew Dodge for having written such a great story.

Guillermo del Toro had an AMA at Reddit

Missed it by a few hours, but Guillermo del Toro popped by at Reddit and did an AMA (Ask Me Anything). Well, not that I'd ever ask anything as my brain always seems to freeze in the presence of greatness...hehehe

Re Watching Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Been watching this excellent 2011 documentary entitled Jiro Dreams of Sushi (if you can't watch it at Netflix, you can always try Amazon instant videos). The documentary touches on the life of Jiro Ono and how he came to be. He is considered to be the best sushi chef in Japan. Been watching it in order to get inspired for something I have to do for my kid's school activity where parents have to present something in behalf of their kid. Yeah yeah, so I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to everything and I never ever felt comfortable with half-assing anything *snicker*.

M.A.S.K. Intro

The intro to the 80's cartoon series, M.A.S.K. has been playing through my head lately. Definitely in my book, this could have been the best cartoon intro song of the 80's. Was lucky enough to find an even longer playing version of this in youtube. Now I'm jamming to this song while working on the PC.

Bandai HG 1/144 Full Armor Gundam Thunderbolt ver English Manual & Color Guide

Released last year by Bandai for the Thunderbolt manga line is the Full Armor Gundam Thunderbolt ver. This particular model kit was released as a 1/144 High Grade. People who buy this kit will be surprised by the attention to detail given to the design and will marvel at the capability of Bandai to be able add that type of detail in the model kit. So goes for the other High Grade released Thunderbolt versions.

Mech9 Site Changes

Finally had the time on my plate so I spent it doing what I've always wanted to do with this site. Which was to organize the list of subsections for the Translated Color Guides and Manuals. Long time readers on this site know that the section is arranged according to the anime series that the model kits belong in. In my naivety when I was starting this database, I dumped all the Gundam related color guides in the MS Gundam Universal Century section. You can imagine what happened next.

Bandai HG 1/144 Build Gundam Mk II English Manual & Color Guide

Released last year by Bandai is the Build Gundam Mk II of Sei Iori and Reiji from Gundam Build Fighters as a 1/144 High Grade model kit. A 1/100 Master Grade version of the Build Gundam Mk II was also released to complement this. Gundam Build Fighters is the current anime series being promoted by the franchise and with it Bandai is developing the corresponding merchandise for it.

From Gundam Build Fighters comes the Sengoku Astray Gundam released as a 1/144 High Grade model kit by Bandai. This model kit was released in December of last year. If you find this version too small, you can always go for the Master Grade version of the Sengoku Astray that was released a couple of months back.

Released last year by Bandai as a 1/144 Real Grade model kit is the RX-78GP01 Zephyranthes of series protagonist, Kou Uraki from Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. On a side note, this elegant mobile suit was designed by Macross co-creator, Shoji Kawamori. Getting the real grade treatment for a particular mobile suit means getting the works in terms of detailed parts, a modern sliding frame and great decals.

From Gundam 0083 comes the Full Burnern of Kou Uraki released as a 1/144 Real Grade model kit by Bandai. This was the space version of Kou Uraki's Zephyranthes, having the thrusters and configuration to make it dominating in the vacuum of space.

From Gundam Seed Desitiny is the iconic Strike Freedom Gundam of Kira Yamato which was recently released as a 1/144 Real Grade model kit by Bandai. The Strike Freedom Gundam succeeded the Freedom Gundam that was defeated in a duel against Shinn Asuka. Hands down one of the most beautiful Gundam designs ever released in my book. Those Dragoons just make it soooo perfect.

Bandai RG 1/144 GN-001 Gundam Exia English Manual & Color Guide

From Gundam 00 comes the GN-001 Gundam Exia of Setsuna F. Seie released as a 1/144 Real Grade kit by Bandai. The Exia is the melee unit of the secret organization known as Celestial Being as seen in the Gundam 00 anime. Armed with swords and short range weapons as well as the close quarter fighting style of its pilot, it fits the profile to a T.

Yamato/Arcardia 1/60 VF-1D Valkyrie Unofficial English Color Guide

Here's an interesting question I got, how do you paint the iconic VF-1D Valkyrie that was released as a No Paint kit by Yamato/Arcadia if no color guide was included. Well I never saw the manual of the VF-1D No Paint kit so I can't tell if it has an included color guide or not. But despite that there are alternatives that you can use.
