Revell 1/48 F-4 C/D Phantom II

Got this from HobbyLink Japan last month, the Revell 1/48 F-4C/D Phantom II. This model kit was originally released by Monogram way way back, I should know, since I built one as a kid *snicker* This model of the F-4 Phantom can be built as either a 199th TFS Hawaii ANG "C" model or a 23rd TFS/52nd TFW "D" model.

In the opening sequence of the Gundam Seed anime, the Aegis Gundam was stolen from a secret off planet Earth Federation base by a ZAFT commando team. Like the Aegis Gundam in the anime, this model kit has the capability to transform to the fearsome looking mobile armor mode that gives it more maneuverability than when it is in robot mode.

Released in 2005 by Bandai was the Super Deformed version of the Gunner Zaku Warrior of Lunamaria Hawke from the Gundam Seed Destiny anime series. Lunamaria Hawke was part of the Mobile Suit crew of the ZAFT ship Minerva. Her mobile suit is painted in the reddish pink hue that is synonymous with Lunamaria Hawke's style style. In the anime, the Gunner Zaku Warrior of Lunamaria Hawke usually serves as close-in-support protection of the Minerva from hostile attackers.

Released in 2006 by Bandai as a Super Deformed Model Kit was the Strike Freedom Gundam of Kira Yamato from the Gundam Seed Destiny anime which was a sequel to the Gundam Seed anime series. In the anime, after the Strike Freedom Gundam of Kira Yamato was shot down, he migrated to the even more powerful Strike Freedom Gundam.

Released in October by Bandai is the 1/144 High Grade variant of the Gundam Legilis from the Gundam AGE anime series. Looking at this Gundam design, I can't help but think that it has shades of the Gundam Wing design imprinted on it.

Iron Man turning 50 in 2013

I'm not really up to date with what's happening with the Iron Man 3 movie that's supposed to come out next year even though I'm thoroughly excited to see it. So I was pleasantly surprised to find out that 2013 will be the 50th anniversary of Iron Man. Makes me wonder if Disney/Marvel timed the release of the 3rd movie to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Iron Man. Iron Man first came out in 1963 in the Tales of Suspense comic book.

Happy 30th Anniversary GI Joe RAH

Only realized this now, that this year 2012, is the 30th Anniversary of GI Joe Real American Hero. I was reading up on old GI Joe comic books these past few weeks when I chanced upon this brilliant kernel of truth. GI Joe is really special to me as it was the perfect creative outlet for that old pastime of playing soldier. Funny also that this is also the 30th year of Macross, two great childhood loves were created on the same year. How about that?

Bandai SD Blitz Gundam English Manual & Color Guide

Released in 2004 by Bandai was the Super Deformed variant of the Blitz Gundam from the Gundam Seed Anime series. The Blitz Gundam was piloted by Nicol Amalfi from ZAFT. The Blitz was one of the Gundams stolen by a cadre of ZAFT commandos from the Earth Federations hidden development site. The Blitz has the Mirage Colloid system that allow it to be invisible to the naked eye as well as from other electronic sensors. During its invisible mode however it is very susceptible to attack as it renders the armor of the Blitz useless.

I always believed that the Gundam Seed line of mecha were the most beautifully designed Gundams that the Gundam Franchise ever brought out. Especially the Gundam Astray line of kits.
