Removing Batteries from Stored Toys to Prevent Damage

Leader Class Starscream Battery

I've been meaning to do this ever since I stored my Leader Class Starscream in my display case. Which is to remove the two AA batteries in the toy that are used to power its voice box. After having a lot of electricity powered devices destroyed by leaking batteries in the past I've been obsessed with making sure to remove batteries when storing electronic devices.

Googling the web I can't seem to find a definitive reason as to why batteries leak, but the most plausible would be that the corrosive nature of the battery acid causes the terminals to rust which will eventually lead to its leaking in the long term.

Removal of the battery from any Hasbro/Takara-Tomy Transformers Leader Class toy is quite easy as its mentioned in the user manual the location of the battery pack. All you need then is a small "+" screw driver to detach the screw of the battery cover.
