The Clone Wars Season 4 Episode 8 - The General

The Clone Wars Season 4 Episode 8 - The General

I just had to post about Episode 8 of The Clone Wars titled The General. In the previous episode The Republic had taken to invading the planet of Umbara in order to prevent more planets from joining the separatists. Anakin SkyWalker and Obi One Kenobi's Battalions play a pivotal role in capturing the capital according to the battle plan. Before however the battle gets into full swing, Anakin Skywalker is called back to the capital on the orders of Chancellor Palpatine himself. This left Rex and the rest of Anakin's Battalion under the command of Jedi Pong Krell.

The Clone Wars Season 4 Episode 8 - The General

General Pong Krell is notorious for having the highest clone casualty rate despite having a string of victories under his belt. This comes to a boiling point when they are ordered by Obi One Kenobi to attack an enemy airbase that is supporting the capital and preventing them from being captured by Obi One's forces.

Rex, being the trusted second in command that he is tries hard to accomplish the mission despite the grumblings of his fellow clones that comes to a near boiling point. Aside from that he also has to deal with the bigotness of General Krell who shows an obvious disdain for the clone troopers. It gives us a window into the premise that not all Jedi's are caring and sympathetic. Kinda made me rethink my thoughts about the clones when they slaughtered those helpless Jedi's in the Episode 3 movie. I guess some Jedi's were seduced to the Dark Side, but some are just a slight nudge away into turning evil.

Great battle scenes in this episode and the very realistic rendering of this shadowy and fog ridden world by Lucas Arts. I read one time that the Clone Wars are being produced in Singapore, or maybe some it. That truly makes me more proud knowing that Asians are behind the production of this great cartoon series and that their talents are being showcased in a world stage.
