Bandai 1/144 RG RX-78-2 Gundam Manual, Color Guide and Paint Conversion Chart

The much awaited Real Grade RX-78-2 Gundam from Bandai that was released as part of the 30th anniversary of Gundam plastic model kits this year. Looking at the manual posted at Dalong I couldn't help but be amazed at the detail and engineering that they had put in this kit. Of course I had to hope that they also execute this kind of craftmanship in their 1/100 lines *snicker* It was also announced that the next kit in this line would be the Zaku II of Char Aznable.

Bandai MG 1/100 RMS-099 Rick Dias English Color Guide & Paint Conversion Chart

The RMS-099 Rick Dias Mass production version from the Zeta Gundam anime series. This mobile suit was flown by AEUG during their battle against the Earth Federation and the Titans. This differs from the red Rick-Dias of Quattro Bajeena/Char Aznable, albeit only slightly.

Victory At Sea

Been spending my weekend watching Victory At Sea. Its a very long World War II documentary colored in Black and White. I think it was filmed in the 50's. I haven't been able to work on the Cherudim Gundam again because of the weather.

Blood Donation

Didn't have time to write anything up for this site related to mecha because I spent my spare time during the day heading over to my local Red Cross Chapter and donating blood. Above is a shot of my bandage which was just on top of the vein they took the blood from. I edited out the bloody parts from the photo because I wouldn't want anybody barfing after seeing this *snicker*

MSN-02 Perfect Zeong from Mobile Suit Variations made into a Master Grade kit by Bandai in 1/100 scale. This is one behemoth of a mobile suit standing as big as a Perfect Grade kit. The original MSN-02 Zeong was piloted by Char Aznable in Mobile Suit Gundam:0079. That version lacked any legs because according to the story it was never completed. But the absence of legs didn't make it any less fearsome or combat ready.

Banagher Link's RX-0 Unicorn Gundam from the Gundam Unicorn OVA. This time released as a High Grade model kit by Bandai in "Unicorn Mode" This is the default mode of the Gundam Unicorn. Once certain parameters are met the Gundam Unicorn transforms to Destroy Mode where it expands to an even bigger version of itself.

Banagher Links' RX-0 Unicorn Gundam from the Unicorn Gundam OVA made into a High Grade kit by Bandai. This version is in Destroy Mode with the face exposed, antenna unfolded and the frame expanded. There is also a bigger master grade version of the Gundam Unicorn from the OVA as well as an MS Cage version of the MG Gundam Unicorn.

Bandai HG 1/144 EWAC Zack English Manual and Color Guide

Reconnaissance variant of the Earth Federations Hi-Zack set in the ZZ Gundam universe. This time made into a 1/144 High Grade model kit by Bandai. Also popularly referred to as the "Eye-Zack", no doubt a play on the "Hi-Zack" name of its more popular brethren.

1/100 GN-006 Cherudim Gundam Assembly Part V

Had a free day today and beautiful weather to continue building the 1/100 Cherudim Gundam that's filling my plate. Part IV of this build could be found here. Most of the Cherudim is finished already, except for the head, the pistols and the simple detailing that I usually do with a Gundam marker.

MBF-02 Strike Rouge of Cagalli Yula Athha from Gundam Seed anime series. It made a brief appearance in the latter part of Gundam Seed and in Gundam Seed Destiny. The Strike Rouge fought alongside Kira Yamato and Athrun Zala as part of the Lacus Clyne faction of Gundam Seed.

GAT-X303 Aegis Gundam of Athrun Zala from the original Gundam Seed anime series. Athrun Zala and a team of ZAFT commandos covertly entered the Orb space station Heliopolis in order to steal the secretly developed mobile suits of the Earth Federation forces. The Aegis Gundam was the one stolen by Arthrun.

1/100 GN-006 Cherudim Gundam Assembly Part IV

Part III of this build can be found here. Work has been steady on the 1/100 GN-006 Cherudim Gundam of Lockon Stratos from Gundam 00 Season 2. This can be attributed to great weather in my parts. I think I've developed a phobia for bad painting weather already, once it starts getting gloomy in the afternoon or if its cloudy, I basically cease all painting activities save for sanding.

Dearka Elsman's GAT-X103 Buster Gundam from the original Gundam Seed anime series. The opening episode of the anime had him, Athrun Zala and other elite members of a cadre of ZAFT soldiers embarking on a daring raid to steal the Earth Federation's newest mobile suits. The unit that Dearka stole was the Buster Gundam.

1/100 GN-002 Gundam Dynames Assembly Part VII

Continued from Part VI. Was satisfied with the build and finally concluded it today by taking some pictures of the finished product. Took a long time to finish this, a big part was because I kinda lost my drive to build kits after having to look for a work area.

Airbrush Tank Conversion Part II

Went to a local hardware store and bought myself an air regulator. This was for my project of converting my Dad's old oxygen tank to an airbrush tank. Price was ok at $12 for the entire thing.

Despicable Me Movie showing on July 9

Looking forward to watching the Despicable Me movie. Been having a ball watching the videos at Youtube and was definitely sold on watching by them. This is going to be shown already on the 9th in the US, I wonder when this will be shown in my parts of the world?

Continuing from Part II. Nice sunny weather again yesterday so was able to continue with this build of the 1/100 non-grade GN-006 Cherudim Gundam of Lockon Stratos from Gundam 00 Season 2. Right now my painting area is outside as compared to before when I was painting inside the house.

Airbrush Tank Conversion

Converted my Dad's old oxygen tank to an air reservoir and added fittings so that my Badger 250-2 Airbrush could be attached to it. This is the next step of my insane quest to not have to buy an air compressor to be able to paint with an airbrush. Before that, Please don't try this at home if you are not experienced in working with pressurized devices as well as have no knowledge of the physical working properties of air.

ESA's Planck Satellite completes 360 deg sweep of the Universe

Noteworthy news for today is the announcement by the ESA (European Space Agency) that the Planck Satellite has completed its 360 deg sweep of the universe after 6 months. Brief description of the Planck Satellite and its sister ship, the Herschel and their missions can be seen in the video below.

Predators Movie

Looking forward to watching Robert Rodriguez's intepretation of the Predator/Aliens franchise with the release of his "Predators Movie" this July. Been having a ball too looking at the videos posted at youtube about this movie.

I just love weekends, a lot more time to get some model kit building done. Anyhoo, continued building the 1/100 non-grade Cherudim Gundam. Add to that that the weather was sunny yesterday, so it was really a good time to be building.

Started building already the 1/100 GN-0006 Cherudim Gundam of Lockon Stratos from the Gundam 00 season 2 anime. Prior to this kit I was building the 1/100 non-grade GN-002 Gundam Dynames belonging also to Lockon Stratos from the Gundam 00 season 1 anime.

Kotobukiya MBV-04-G Temjin [Ver. 1P] English Manual and Color Guide

MBV-04-G Temjin [Ver. 1P] from Cyber Troopers Virtual-On. I was suprised to find out that this mecha was designed by famed mecha designer, Hajime Katoki that was then made into a model kit by Kotobukiya.

Bandai HG 1/144 Gundam Avalanche Exia (Dash) English Manual & Color Guide

Setsuna F. Seie's Gundam Exia equipped and configured as Gundam Exia Avalanche. There is an added Dash unit to this model kit that makes it unique from the typical Gundam Exia Avalanche. Although in the box of the model kit the Exia is spelled with an apostrophe at the end, wonder what's that all about?, shouldn't it be a "-" instead?
