Yamato 1/60 VF-1J GBP-1S Hikaru Ichijo

Update:Whoa, just got an email from Over Drive Inc pointing to the GBP-1S outfitted VF-1J of Hikaru Ichijo. You can already view it at the Yamato-Toys website. Both Over-Drive($162.99), HobbySearch(15,960 yen) and HLJ(Y15,960 at early bird discount but will retail for Y16,800) have this on pre-order. Yamato also recently announced that they will be selling just the GBP-1S armor as a kit.

Scratch Built 1/60 SF-3A Lancer II Part VI

Not much activity right now on this blog because I've been busy working on the Scratch Built SF-3A Lancer II



The top wing has already been made. Initially it was supposed to be made of plaster of paris but I found out that I was pushing already the limit of the material, since it kept breaking during filing and shaping. Ideally I would have wanted to use styrene sheets, but since I can't seem to find any available here I'm using instead Sculpey Firm Clay.

Update again on the 1/60 Macross SF-3A Lancer II Scratch Built Project that I'm working on. With the new tools I bought I was able to work much faster.

1/60 Yamato YF-19 Bird of Prey and Double Nuts

Update: Translated Manual for the original 1/60 YF-19 of Isamu Dyson can be found here.

Two variants of Isamu Dyson's YF-19 is to be released by Yamato this August 2009. They are the Unit 3 Bird of Prey and the Unit 4 Double Nuts. The Bird of Prey variant comes in orange trim to commemorate the color of test planes used by the United States. While the "Double Nuts" variant will come in Blue trim. Personally I prefer the Double Nuts version over the Bird of Prey.

Scratch Built 1/60 SF-3A Lancer II Part IV

Just another update on the 1/60 Macross SF-3A Lancer II Scratch Built Project that I'm working on. Things are definitely starting to take shape. I have enough parts on hand to create a mock-up of the Lancer 2.

Macross Cast at Asakusa for Macross Frontier Fans Club Event

According to a blog entry by Aya Endo, voice actress of Sheryl Nome in Macross Frontier, cast members Megumi Nakajima (Ranka Lee) and Yuuichi Nakamura (Alto Saotome) were at Asakusa for a Macross Frontier Fans Club event.

Yamato 1/60 VF-1D Virgin Road Valkyrie

Yamato Toys just featured in their blog their soon to be released 1/60 VF-1D of Max and Milia used in the Macross episode Virgin Road. According to the post, its going to be available by Sept of 2009 and will retail for about 10,290 yen.

Reworking Plaster of Paris

Here's how I remove the nicks from the 1/60 SF-3A Lancer II project that I'm working on. On this project I'm using plaster of paris as my working medium.

On the areas where there are huge nicks and scratches, I just re-mix a small solution of plaster of paris then dab it on to the area.

1/60 VF-1J Ejection seat and Komilia Pod

Saw this at the Yamato Blog. An optional Ejection seat and baby pod. Supposed to retail for 3000 yen. Its designed to attach to Yamato's 1/60 Valkyries. Not sure if they have a 1/48 version of this.

The baby pod was first seen in Episode 30: Viva Maria of the Macross TV series. It was used so that Max and Milia's baby, Komilia, could travel with them in their mission to capture the Zentradi Factory. It was slung underneath Milia's VF-1J in the position where the Gunpod is supposed to go.

Working on the top and bottom rocket boosters right now for the 1/60 SF-3A Lancer II that I am scratch building.

Just an update on my scratch building project for a 1/60 Lancer II SF-3A from Macross



Had some time to work on the main body and was able to hollow out already the cockpit area. During some polishing with sandpaper, some holes caused by air bubbles showed up in the fuselage.

1/60 Yamato Super Parts - Clear Parts

Here's something interesting. You could call it an add-on for an add-on. This July 2009, Yamato toys is selling clear parts for their 1/60 Super & Strike Packs that is used by the VF-1 Valkyrie's of Macross.
